How small acts get the crowd excited.

The Democratic National Convention is set up much like a large week long concert, the small acts go up much earlier than the big headliners, which get prime time coverage. However just like in a good concert, before the amazing main acts, in the DNC’s case, Michelle Obama, and Hilary Clinton, there are a few small bands that wow the crowd in the opening acts. One of these opening acts was Congressman Dennis Kucinich, a former candidate in the Democratic Primaries, Kucinich was regarded as a far left candidate that was a bit extreme at times, the Democratic answer to Ron Paul, if you will. Even though Kucinich could not relate to moderate America he is still extremely appreciated in the democratic circle, as was seen in his speech.

While only speaking for five minutes, Kucinich hammered on the Republicans and their ill-fated policies. The unconstitutionalism? of this administration, the tremendous debt caused by this war, the threat of the US becoming an oligarchy, run by oil, healthcare, and pharmaceutical corporations. Kucinich wants Americans to? wake up and take control? of their own nation, because if they don?t, the government could control the people, instead of the people controlling their government.

Watch the video, and see the reaction of the crowd yourself.

What if a leader?s economic policies don?t revitalize the nation? What then? How does he take control of the situation?

What is a leader to do when an uncontrollable crisis strikes his nation? Does he ignore the problem, and blame it on the previous administration, as Herbert Hoover did with the Great Depression? Or does he create new federal programs to revive the nation economically, as Roosevelt did after Hoover? What if the leader?s economic policies don?t revitalize the nation? What then?

The nation with the economic crisis is Haiti, and its leader, Ren? Pr?val, was elected in 2006 because he was an agronomist. He was supposed to help Haiti?s already downtrodden economy. However, the hurricane season of 2007 caused many problems for the Haitians, particularly because all the crops were destroyed. The damage was so severe that some Haitians now have to survive on cookies and biscuits made from dirt.

There have been protests for Pr?val to take control of the situation, and to remove all tariffs on imports. However, Pr?val stated that the money from the tariffs was needed. The President has tried to alleviate the problem by reducing wheat costs, and increasing food production. However lowering wheat costs from $51 to $43 does not eliminate the dilemma that many of Haiti?s poor have to face, thus they resort to dirt biscuits.

What is Pr?val to do now? Does he allow the government to become bankrupt and insure problems for the future of Haitians, and Haiti itself, but feed all its citizens? Or does he allow some to starve to insure that the majority of the next generation will be able to survive?

All I know is that the world isn?t always black and white, and there is never a clear solution?
